Star Flurry is here!
The perfect any time celebration quilt
I used to think Christmas day meant cold, dreary weather, overcast skies and maybe snow. Living in southern Arizona that is not at all a possibility 99% of the time. This week temps have been in the mid to upper 70s. It’s safe to say we won’t be getting any snow. I’ve started to enjoy my warm Christmas days and look forward to them. I still wanted some sparkle. Some pizzazz. Something to go with the sunny skies and suntan I could probably get if I sat outside long enough (but who wants to be away from their sewing machine for that long?)
Enter Star Flurry. I didn’t set out to make a snowflake-esque quilt block. This block started out way busier and more involved than what you see here. And, to be honest, I still don’t see just snowflakes. This reminds me of the sparkles off of a disco ball or the burst from fireworks. Maybe you see the twinkle of stars in the sky or Christmas lights. The beauty of Star Flurry is that it can work for any celebration.

This pattern is written for fat quarters and background yardage. Once you get a block done, the rest of the them are easily chain pieced. Truly, even with kiddos, I finished a 3x3 quilt top in 3 days. And that was with redoing a block completely and deciding I needed to cut 2 new blocks. If you can stitch and flip you can easily make a Star Flurry block!
I was so tickled when Kiley (@kileysquiltroom) offered to share some of her new fabric line, Gingerbread Lane, with me. At first I didn’t want to cut into the fabrics, afraid I would mess up somehow. After some math, and triple checking it, I cut into the festive prints and created my most favorite of the Star Flurry samples. It doesn’t get better than coordinated, scrappy goodness. While the pattern isn’t written inherently for scraps, by utilizing the block break down on the inside cover of the pattern you can easily pick and choose your own scrappy prints to substitute into the blocks.
If you need a quick holiday quilt, or a “I can’t believe I survived 2025” (let’s be real has time really worked the same since 2020?) celebratory quilt, Star Flurry is just right for you. My entire shop is on sale through Sunday, December 21. I know we are all trying to squeeze one last project or two on to our Christmas gift lists. Personally, I’ll be fighting with the fpp project I started last weekend. I hope you can find some inspiration, joy, and peace as we move into the final weeks of the year and maybe find a little something to celebrate.

🤩Gorgeous! Just like you! 😘
I love the scrappy Christmas colors quilt in this!!
