Starry Patch Surprise
Are you ready for summer sewing?
This May is a May am I right? On top of school, birthdays, holidays and summer vacation looming I knew I wanted to get my latest pattern out. I didn’t follow any of my standard “rules” for sharing about this project. No fabric pulls, no singular block photos, nothing on my design wall, etc. Starry Patch is exactly what I needed.
I played this one loosey goosey and I stopped second guessing everything and you know what? It turns out I love this quilt even more. The cover quilt is made from Color Pop by KP Creates with Andover Fabrics and is so happy and bright. Perfect for the start of summer.
This pattern is traditionally pieced, uses fat quarters, yardage, or scraps and when you chain piece, it can whip up in a weekend. (Especially if you do cereal for dinner.)
When my best friend told me she was expecting it was a no brainer that I would make a quilt. I couldn’t really decide on anything and the Starry Patch pattern turned out to be the best choice! Using fat quarters I randomly grabbed pieces while batch, chain sewing to create the look of a “scrappy” quilt without too much of the guess work that usually goes into scrappy. If scrappy is intimidating to you I recommend trying something similar. Stick those fabrics in a bag and mix it up!
With deadlines looming I didn’t have much time to create another quilt but I had more than enough fun with the mock-ups!

This week I polled the community about a slow, self paced, no commitments or deadlines scrappy rainbow sew together. I think Starry Patch is going to be my pattern of choice as the cuts are large and piecing is very forgiving.
