A new quilt pattern to light up your quilting
My first pattern of the year, Starlight Grove, is here! I designed this block and absolutely loved how each star faded into the next. I couldn’t really tell where one block ended and the next began. Kind of like when I look into the night sky without prescription lenses. It all just kind of blurs together into one big sparkling, smattering of jewels.
I love a good sharp, pointy star…but I hate trimming. It’s scary, I usually goof it up, and to be honest, I hate having that extra seam down the middle. Starlight Grove has none of that to fuss with. This pattern is all stitch and flip. No crazy trimming, no middle seams we have to line up just right for our points, and minimal waste. I engineered the stars, and the math, to include a bit of extra overlap in the star points. This way if you sew like the wind (like moi) and the seams are off a teensy bit, it is okay! No one is gonna know.
Starlight Grove is written for fat quarters, fat eighths and yardage. But, as an added bonus inside the pattern I’ve included how you can cut up common precuts like 5” squares, 10” squares and 2.5” strips to create your own scrappy constellations. This pattern is perfect for quilting bees and using up those spare odds and ends you have stashed away for a rainy day.

I went a bit wild with my mockups but, like every pattern release, I cannot get enough of the pattern and have to see it in every colorway imaginable.
I am so looking forward to the new year and the fun things I have tentatively planned for QuiltCakes. While last year was the year of the scrap for me, I may have to extend it into 2026. What do you think? If you have any ideas or requests I’m open to that too!
